Just a little bit of info, the Sungkai Buffet starts from 6pm - 8pm. It is priced at $12.80 for adults, $8.80 for children and kids under 6 eats for free.

Customers are served with fresh food upon request when buffet line is empty in order to keep food hot and sashimi fresh & cold.

As for the comment on the lack of variety of Sashimi, this Buffet states Salmon Sashimi only.

Regarding your message to Takara at the end of your post,
Quote" *Msg to Takara: if you aren't effort to provide proper buffet (should be unlimited take), just don't say it is a buffet.... i will feel better...."

We're not sure what u mean but we would like to state that it is a buffet, it is unlimited, please feel free to ask any of my staff there for ANY assistance or inquiries and we will be glad to assist you and yes, I did see you take a picture of the hot water pot which keeps our tempura sauce nice and hot to enjoy your tempura prawns.

Til then, happy eating.

I had visited the buffet only a few days before you and found that the sushi was refilled quite often. You will appreciate that there is limited space for the food so that more tables can be set for people to eat but if you look behind the counter, there is sushi ready to be served when needed.

Also with respect to the sashimi, if you have been to other Japanese restaurants u will note that it is best served cold and so it is possible the restaurant wanted to ensure it was so when you have it. The best thing to do would have been to ask but then seeing as you thought the hot soya sauce (which was for the tempura and wanted to be kept hot hence it was in the hot water pot) was coffee, its hardly surprising that you just jumped to conclusions.

Furthermore as you did rightly point out, you had arrived towards the end of the buffet wherein the restaurant would have been weary of putting out too much refill. Again the most appropriate measure to take would have been to ask instead of taking pictures as it does seem that you do like to get your money's worth.

Oh but hang on, u paid $4.50 for shaved ice and find it difficult to fork out $12.80 for a meal that u will usually pay more for if ordering from the normal ala carte menu. Go figure!

I am trying to understand your frustration but i think at times we should not begin by pointing fingers at the establishment. By placing a ton of food and constantly topping up food is

#1: the food will chill up fast and will not taste as good as fresh from the grill/wok/fridge.

#2: encourage wastage. When people see a huge amount of food, they tend to dig in and take more than they can consume.

I think the above points is some of the key foundations that restaurants work on, serving food in its best condition/fresh and not waste food.

You can play your part by asking for a refill when the plate is nearing empty. I am sure they wont say no sir, since it IS a buffet.

And perhaps next time you should look out for description of food/drinks/sauce before you jump to shooting the guy. Tempura sauce are meant to be hot, hence i see the reason for keeping it in the hot dispenser.

Maybe in the first place, you should have opened your mouth to ask, and you will be served. I dont think you can find sushi as fine and fresh as Takara in Brunei. Like the saying goes, you pay for quality.

Ooh how embarassing. You make it sound as if you know so much about Japanese food, and yet you don't know the difference between Tempura sauce and Soya sauce? Its pretty obvious that the Japanese places that you normally frequent lack quality and authenticity. How sad.

I had tried the Takara Sungkai Buffet and i think it was worth but i didn't see the quote below anywhere in the restaurant,

"Customers are served with fresh food upon request when buffet line is empty in order to keep food hot and sashimi fresh & cold." - Takara

So I guess maybe the waitresses can inform all the patrons about this next time?

I think everyone has their own views and there is a need to start this war. The management could just take it as a constructive comment and do better next time. I believe they will be glad to receive feedback from patrons, be it good or bad. At least they know how the patrons feel when dining in the restaurant.

Cheers~
